Shazam: Identify Songs App Reviews

Great convenience that it can recognize songs playing in iTunes even if you are listening to it on earphones. Becomes very useful when listening to mixtapes or podcasts.

Every once in a while I hear a song I would like identified and so I turn to Shazam, the oh-so popular app, usually on my ipod, now on my mac, and I am always disappointed, always. If I want to identify a pop song, I’ll type a few lines of the lyrics in Google and it’s done, I don’t need an app for that, I need an app that can identify music which I am sad to say Shazam can’t… And who wants such an app to constantly work in the background? Pathetic.

The only thing I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t let you delete old tags. Otherwise it is perfect for me.

Desktop version of shazam has its uses but is nowhere near as good as the ios version. The biggest problem for me is that there is no “shazam” button like there is in the iOS app. There is only the auto mode. It’s not good enough and misses a lot of songs completely, especially those not in the itunes store. The auto mode on the iOS version is pretty poor too but the shazam button makes a big difference there. devs, please bring it to the desktop version. Another feature which is strangely missing from the desktop version is the ability to delete shazams. Oh, and it would be really awsome if it could capture input from system audio and not just from a mike. But I am not taking points off for that - I realize this may be tricky especially for an app in the App store.

I love that Shazam has moved from my phone to my desktop. I’m really big into music on tv shows so its great that the app is able to detect songs while I’m watching episodes online! The one problem I do have is that there isn’t a way to delete songs from the list of tags. On my phone I love that feature because I can delete the songs I have downloaded. It would be great to be able to do this on the desktop app as well.

Had the music on, my iPhone Shazam named it, but my Macbook Pro Shazam did not even activate, and I could not start it myself, like I can do on the iPhone, deleted this app 15 mins after getting it!!!

I have no idea how others are getting any results. I’ve had it installed since it first came out and it has never worked. It doesn’t hear anything regardless of what input I try. I keep waiting for an update that might fix something but nothing yet. I don’t get it.

wish there was a way to say what you want to be Shazamed. Like not listing TV. Also would love to be able to delete from my tagged music the songs already listed and or purchased. Or maybe be able to delete the entire list. Would like to login online, but do not wish to sign in with FB. So that could be changed so bottom line, I like it, but it needs to go a bit further in allowing users to setup the way they want to use the app. when they do that, I will think it is great or I will love it

When watching TV often hears a common song that has been sampled in thousands of shows and thinks it is some random, never heard of TV show instead of the major TV show or movie that I am actually watching.

The dealbreaker with the awesome concept of never having to start Shazam because it’s always on is that your iTunes, and any other platform you use to listen to music is going to get tagged in the process. There needs to be some just as effortless way to distinguish between what you want tagged and not tagged. Which leads me to my broken-record complaint, which is that Mac deserves Siri! And a good Siri. Oh, and… IT SUCKS! IT MISSES THE SONGS THAT I ACTUALLY WANT! I TURN UP THE VOLUME AND MAKE SURE THERE’S NO OTHER NOISE AND NOTHING HAPPENS! At least the phone app tells you it couldn’t do it instead of making you wait forever! Also, can anybody tell me how Shazam tags TV shows?! I’ve tried it and it doesn’t work. All in all after reading more reviews below I’ve come to the conclusion that they haven’t put much into this app in terms of listening to complaints. I might just delete it and comeback to it in a year or so if I haven’t found another software that rivals it and see where it’s at.

Needs to have the option to delete tags after I have already bought them. Also needs to be able to differentiate when its my itunes library playing and when its background music. Other than that it is a good app that does it’s job

The app itself is awesome, as always.. I would like to see a more “respectul” logo thought. I would like the option to have a black and white icon on the menu bar and it should follow the “dark” setting of the os. Keep up the good work :D

Just about everything i own has this app its so useful everywhere i go say if i want that song someones listening to i can steal it off them by getting my phone my computer anything near the sound and gets the name of the song also the app has a feature where u can make it stay on for few hours than having to tap da button every time u want a song :D

Whats the point? Im not sure why it doesnt work with music from the iMac??? Whats the point?

It’s a great app but I’d love to be able to delete songs or clear my history all together so I don’t have to search through a long list of songs I already know, songs I don’t want and songs from the Harry Potter soundtrack. Other than that though I’d say this is a great app.

Everytime i open the app it crashes. Then i try opening it again, Crashes. It was working awesome before i updated it, some help would be nice.

This app update doesn’t work and constantly crashes after startup.

before latest update app was working great, my macbook pro 2014 15 inch will not launch it. Other hand my gf macbook pro 15 inch 2015 2 weeks old with 1.1 update does no support from shazam even saying we are aware of the issue working on a new update would be nice. before the update the app would recognize most of the music I would listen to and get it right. over all great app BEFORE UPDATE DO NOT DOWNLOAD untill 1.1 is fixed

Ever since you guys updated it, it’s been crashing right on start-up. I’ll click the icon and it’ll show up in my bar for 2 seconds then crash and disappear. I love this app on my phone and here so please fix this problem ASAP. As well as maybe give the option to go to the itunes store as well as apple music, it’s annoying clicking “download on iTunes” and getting taken to apple music instead.

Doesnt work on Mountain Lion, the app doesnt start
